This morning the San Antonio City Council & the general public were presented with a general overview of what is being called “Project Marvel”. A 4 billion dollar redevelopment project for the redevelopment of the eastern 1/3 of the former site of the San Antonio World’s Fair.

Guess who is finally getting their much needed renovation & restoration!!! Complete overhaul of the kitchen area, new mechanical systems, refresh of dining level (currently closed thru mid-July) and hopefully all the structural repairs to the shaft & top house structure :)

During last week’s visit to Hemisfair I also walked over to photograph the progress of demolition of the State of Texas Pavilion (home to UTSA’s Institute of Texan Cultures from 1968 thru 2024) on the eastern edge of the fairgrounds. Sad to see an old friend go into history.

Well, it looks like the contractor has completed the asbestos abatement on the former State of Texas pavilion built for the 1968 World’s Fair and moved on to the demolition phase :(
