Uber has run into a problem in transitioning to EVs in London: most charge points are in wealthy areas where drivers don't live.
Maybe pay drivers enough so they too can live in wealthy areas? According to TfL, 71% of private hire drivers live in most deprived London communities

With a spike in road casualties related to food delivery this seriously crass comms from Bolt betrays their true contempt for workers:

Uber is onboarding black cabs in London once more. In 2016, it successfully defeated an TfL Taxi & Private Hire & The LTDA High Court claim that the app is defacto a meter. With black cabs back on the platform, will Uber defer to the meter in the cab to calculate fares?

This worker has been reactivated ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ
Though Uber attempted to intimidate by accusing them of fraud and stating their dismissal was permanent, their claims quickly fell apart under scrutiny of the trip data and the obvious automated decision-making involved

Interesting study falsifying Uber's claims that minimum pay guarantees for workers will hike up customer fares. The (unsurprising) truth of course is that fares are going up anyway, and not into drivers' pockets: thehill.com/opinion/civil-โ€ฆ

Very reassuring(!) to receive this DSAR response from Uber today where they couldn't even be bothered to fill in the name of worker whose dismissal they allegedly reviewed.

At a rate peak rate of 10 mio predictions per second, Uber personalises (discriminatory) pay & work allocation to provision a 'magical' workplace for drivers and couriers! Who writes this stuff?

Uber says the future of work includes robo-firing first/ask questions later. Notice the one way info flow w the worker providing additional evidence to a decision not yet transparent, no specific allegations put to them & no possibility for human discussion. Positively Orwellian!

Brilliant insight into the absurdity of AI-powered app platforms. Constant mistakes, underpaying workers, chatbots for HR, algorithmic management is, as this worker describes, 'dehumanising, soul crushing, frustrating'
