My favourite places are bookshops and libraries. Yet, few stories reflect my experience and my body. When the book doesn't exist... you should probably write it. I'm so proud that ‘Break the Mould' will be published by Hachette Children's Group on October 15th: sinead-burke.com/break-the-mould

A rare glimpse of the thoughts of a 16th-century Welsh scribe. Here are the words of the frustrated amanuensis who was asked to make a copy of NLW, Peniarth MS 20: 'Heb gael un geinioc am ysgrivennu lxxiiii o ddalenne' ['Not received a single penny for writing 74 folios']

Very sad news about the death of the great Margaret MacCurtain, aged 91. The quality and breadth of her historical work (especially on women's history) would be enough to mark her passing, but Sister Margaret was also a champion of the poor, oppressed, and marginalised.

On International Women’s Day let’s not forget that the origin of Wales’s bardic muse is a woman. She is invoked in the first anthology of Welsh-language women’s poetry up to 1800, Beirdd Ceridwen (Ceridwen’s Poets) by our own Cathryn Ch-White #Ceridwen #ChooseToChallenge #IWD2021
