The guidance: #Pubs can’t offer alcohol takeaway but can do delivery (& takeaway or click & collect of food/soft drinks). Off-licenses & supermarkets allowed to sell alcohol without restriction. Another way pubs are discriminated against & with wholly inadequate support.

Ministers now talking about no easement of restrictions until March - when hospitality will have been closed 5 months and longer in many areas. A lockdown of this scale needs new additional support to avoid a liquidity crunch and unnecessary business failure and job losses

Before Christmas, ONS research said 50% of hospitality businesses did not have sufficient cash reserves to make it to Feb and only 1 in 5 were confident of surviving beyond Q1. Failure on that scale would have devastating consequences economically, socially and culturally
