Read my lips: The City of Chicago can ask the legislature to extend that 2% hotel tax AFTER the current $650M of Bears stadium debt is paid off and use it for all kinds of building trade Union job creating stuff like CPS school upgrades & lead water line replacement.

Let me try to understand this… We need money for CPS Schools and staff, affordable housing, addressing homelessness, closing deficits, pension debt payments, and more.. …but let’s dump a Billion for a stadium? That’s the move? #TheMathAintMathing

A train derailed on the Blue Line yesterday, probably because of how bad we’ve let the tracks get with years of deferred maintenance. Mayor Brandon Johnson, will we get more public benefit out of a new Bears stadium or a functional transit network?

Looks like I’m going to have some reading material for my flight this afternoon. Glad to see The Civic Federation come out in strong support of #RevenuesAndReform. It’s time to create a proper 21st Century network of Chicagoland transit rather than keeping our political silos intact.

End of an era as we use the last of our lettered zoned and south cook pilot tickets. It was good while it lasted. Here’s to bigger and better things ahead for @metra Metra Electric RTA

Great data to have- seems pretty plausible that an MMA would see (currently more heavily subsidized and ‘suburban controlled’) Metra service getting less subsidized relative to per rider cta. I see all the ‘the city is getting screwed on this’ discourse and get very confused

A huge round of applause to all the Metra riders and employees who took part in the 2024 "Pages for the Planet" Book Drive! Your generosity has gifted our community with over 2,300 stories to dive into. We're looking forward to next year's chapter! 📚💙🚂

2300 books is great. We need some serious marketing in the new bnsf schedule though. I rode it today and 🔥 🔥 🔥 . Can’t wait for tomorrow

Over 1.3M IL students are in underfunded school districts. Students who are Black, Latinx, English Learners or from low-income households are most likely to be in these districts. Terri S. Bryant & Rep. Aarón M. Ortíz please prioritize $550M for #EBF.

The last newspapers ever to be printed in the City of Chicago. Cheers to the Chicago Tribune Pressmen and Presswomen who made this miracle happen every night at the Freedom Center. -30-

Gotta love local journalists doing (great, richly reported) summaries of small community beautification grant award winners. Great example from Ella Beiser at the Hyde Park Herald on the SECC’s Shirley Newsom Beautification Grants on the mid south side. hpherald.com/evening_digest…

The working-class of America is angry. Very angry. They want real change. What will that change look like? I'll tell you: fighting back against outrageous corporate greed. Together, we will create an economy that works for all of us, not just the 1%. x.com/i/broadcasts/1…

Here's a proposal for a Chicago Urban Core Access Fee program that delivers public transit funding and roadway operations, safety, and environmental benefits for the region. It is congestion pricing and more. The proposal was rolled out at the recent Transport Chicago conference.

What’s with the CN track repair equipment museum north of 91st st on the IC? I saw them all heading this way from the north last week and now here they are.

I’d love once in my life to see Metra Metra Electric dispatchers use an incidentally operating train to accommodate passengers impacted by delays. 2 days in a row passengers passed by trains that couldve accommodated them. ‘rely on trains? never experienced that ourselves, sorry’
