Côte d'Ivoire 🇨🇮 has just introduced the malaria vaccine into its routine immunization schedule, becoming the first country in the African Region to administer the R21 malaria vaccine to children from the age of 6 months. The vaccine is safe, effective, and recommended by World Health Organization (WHO).

HISTORIC MOMENT 🇨🇮 Côte d’Ivoire becomes the first nation to deploy the R21 Malaria Vaccine, co-developed by Oxford University and SerumInstituteIndia. The vaccine has also been authorised by Ghana, Nigeria, Burkina Faso, the Central African Republic and others.

8-month-old baby Kalilou is the first to receive the R21 malaria vaccine in Côte d'Ivoire. The vaccine will be administered to children in 4 doses, at 6, 8, 9, and 15 months, in 38 health districts of the country and extended to the remaining 75 districts before the end of 2024.
