This is one of the earliest maps in the College Archives and one of the most finely executed. It shows Brown Candover Manor and was drawn by Ralph Treswell, surveyor, in 1588. This land was acquired by the College in 1543. #ExploreYourArchives #EYA #EYAConnections

This map of Vernham Dean (referred to here by its former name Fernham Dean) dates from 1768. Winchester College acquired land here in the 1390s. Manor Farm in Vernham was let to Robert Scullard and this little plan shows the extent of the farm. Explore Your Archive #EYAConnections

To mark this month's Explore Your Archive theme of #Wildlife, we're sharing the seal of Robert Horne (Bishop of Winchester, 1561-1580), which depicts Jonah and the Whale 🐳 The seal is from a document dated 1574, relating to the vicarage of Andover.

Today we are celebrating what would have been Dr. Jennifer Gregory’s birthday. Jennifer taught Biology here from 1969-99 and was also Head of Biology for ten years. This is the microscope she used whilst at Oxford in the 1950s and here at Winchester for teaching.
