Court decides 'it would be unfair and unjust for the defendant to repudiate the claimant’s legitimate expectation' in this case [§167].

Judgment records some extraordinary statistics on the number of official error overpayments and the 'vanishingly low' rate of waiver [§96, §101].

So good to see 3 people in person at Aldershot Court AFTER 3 YEARS AWAY! Alas no DJ Britton (sadly deceased and much missed) but a lovely D J Stewart instead. And Rachel is still the usher - bless! #LCtoday

After 50 years of working in Law Centres (student placement at North Ken LC in 1973), and 41 years as our senior solicitor, Richard Hazell retires at the end of this week. Farewell tea and cake on Friday 31.03 at 2 p.m. at SN1 1HE. #LCtoday

Great final Duty Desk at Aldershot Court for our Richard today. 3 tenants saved from eviction and one was noted to need a Breathing Space Mental Health order to resolve her debts and rent arrears. #LCtoday #accesstojustice

Quick but super heartfelt thank you to former and current colleagues, and Steering Group members, and trainees, and DJs Whiteley and Cronin, for wishing me a great retirement. Will try - but first there is a possible JR in Newbury to sort out ... #LCtoday

Really really profuse and sincere thanks for the friends and WLC team who brought this together. Still got a possible JR in Newbury to advise on come Monday... #LCtoday

Big shout out to our former colleague Sherry, who will be 102 in two weeks' time, still plays Scrabble and could probably still argue a case at a Supp Benefits Appeal Tribunal (as was). #LCtoday

Wishing a very Happy Birthday to our former colleague Sherry Waldon, who is 102 today! A remarkable achievement. Sherry was our Benefits expert between 1981 and 1986. Still as sharp as ever today! #LCtoday

Today was the funeral of Sherry Waldon, who was our colleague and the longest living former LC worker - on 4 August, Sherry would have been 103. Sherry was a caseworker, trainer and Tribunal advocate in our Supp. Benefit days. Much loved - RIP Sherry.
