Some big news from the South Shore Line! The Hammond Gateway station is approaching its opening day as the station nears completion, and catenary will be installed on the Monon Corridor next week!

Funny how they fail to mention the added lane miles included in this widening project. It’s just another widening project in a complete streets trench coat.

Nice to see a new curb bump out on the North side of New York and Oriental. Hopefully this will help prevent a lot of the red light running and drivers taking this corner too fast, plus adding some daylighting for pedestrians!

Goose Girl is back in operation, and the water is flowing! It’s great to see this project inspire our Spades Park Neighbors to kickstart their own fountain restoration project. It truly takes a village.

INDOT added a bike lane on 11th between College and Central. Far from perfect, but it helps shrink the visual width of this insanely wide street

The same attorney that is attempting to expand a parking lot on the Near Eastside is also trying to get permitting for an expanded drive through and fueling station in a transit district (non-permitted uses in a TOD district).

A new development may be coming soon to Meridian and 22nd in the Red and Purple Line TOD district. The 116 unit development is planned to be built below the TOD parking minimums by leveraging on street spaces and bicycle parking.

Indy-Anderson-Muncie would be such a strong regional rail corridor. I would follow with Indy-Kokomo since the right of way exists and is pretty plum dead straight.

One of the best things the Near Eastside did was close roads in our parks to cars and turn them over to people. The change has created more peaceful parks, more active transportation opportunities, and a new bird sanctuary in Spades Park.
