This is Onyx, we saw the vet again today as I was very concerned at the colour of the tissue inside this wound. (I’ve coloured it over in green marker so it doesn’t make anyone faint or puke…). The lovely vet who debrided it on Tuesday saw him today … instagr.am/p/CscGTgLtjNS/

REMEMBER: weetabix is NOT ok to feed hedgehogs. If you find an injured or unwell (out in day wandering not actively nesting) one contact a rescue without delay, DO NOT feed them inappropriate stuff like this. Kitten kibble & fresh clean water to help the ones visiting at night.

Starting another post with ‘I don’t know where to start…’ but there is a positive in here this time.

Garnet passed away overnight, without ever uncurling from her ball. Rigour mortise has stiffened her paws & spines and I can feel the change in fluid distribution in her body where she’s been lying, so there’s no question about it any more.

Unfortunately the injured hedgehog hasn’t yet been found but this lad did come in earlier this evening from a pocket park in Rushden. I named him Boots because it doesn’t matter how poorly they are, they each deserve to be remembered.

I hoped after Lumpy survived the night that things weren’t as bad as feared. I’ve just heard from the vet & his injuries are unrecoverable from. He’s been euthanised as that’s the only humane thing for him.
