Here's a wild stat I just saw - if you care about our elderly, this is important. Only 4% of nursing homes polled by AHCA/NCAL noted OBBB would result in little to no change to services. In other words, 96% will be forced to make cuts. 27% say they'll have to close entirely.

We all know trickle down economics doesn’t work - decrease taxes for the wealthy and the benefit will flow down the chain. You know what does trickle down though? Cuts. If you cut food stamps, you hurt grocery stores, which hurts farmers, which hurts various producers.

As cool as these historic speeches trying to stop bad legislation are... they don't work. As we saw once again. If anything, they are likely actually pushing further away those they're meant to reach. It really feels like Democrats have learned very little over the past decade.

My new obsession is vexillology, so yesterday on the way back from Texas I decided to tell my wife about municipal flag design. When she got tired of my yapping, she let me listen to 99% Invisible podcasts about flags. So feel free to ask me about the true story of Betsy Ross.
