Today we learned that Massey University plans to *get rid of all natural sciences* at our Auckland campus by end of year. That's ~100 PhDs interrupted. Hundreds of undergrads. ~50 faculty positions gone. All now looking for fucken jobs. In 10 months. In this tiny country.

Massey University 5 of 9 faculty in our small MolBio group have Marsdens, not bad for a 3 years grant w/ a 7% success rate. Our Ecology group of just over 10 faculty had two 2019 Rutherford fellows, (10 awarded in NZ each year). In short, there is some good research getting done.
