Western Growers Duflock with Western Growers kicks off the session putting California ag labor into perspective. California pays about $16.3 billion for 850 million hours of farm work right now.

Western Growers Duflock says currently about 2-3% of non-harvest labor has been automated. He expects this to rise to 20 to 25% in the next five to seven years primarily because carbon robotics.

Western Growers "Our whole goal is to make the interplay between the startups and the growers happen faster so that when they're ready to commercialize, we've got a place and partners to help them commercialize and get to the growers faster," Duflock with Western Growers says.

Western Growers "This is a case where the technology is there," Duflock says. "The regulators have to catch up. And until they catch up, we're to the disadvantage."

Western Growers Collaboration with universities is a large opportunity to complete testing of technologies, Duflock says.
