The Western Science Center will be closed to the public on Tuesday, 7/4, in observation of the 4th of July holiday. We will resume normal business hours on Wednesday, 7/5 at 10AM.

Tiny horse! Dr. Brett Dooley, educator Western Science Center, holds a cast upper jaw of the Miocene horse Calippus regulus. Brett found the original specimen in VA in 2001 while volunteering for Virginia Museum of Natural History. This cast will be in a new exhibit Western Science Center opening this August. #FossilFriday

Happy #FossilFriday ! This week we got a special delivery of dinosaur and turtle bones found by our field team in the Menefee Formation in New Mexico! Stay tuned as we start the long process of preparing, cataloging, and getting these fossils ready for research! 🦖🐢

Field season in New Mexico has begun! Curator Dr. Andrew McDonald and WSC staff and volunteers are back in the Menifee Formation digging up dinosaurs, turtles, and other amazing fossils from over 80 million years ago. We can’t wait to see what they find!

Happy #FossilFriday ! What’s in all those boxes? A lot of dinosaur and turtle bones from the Menifee Formation in New Mexico! WSC paleontologists headed up to @nhmu to bring this material to the museum, & we’re excited to go through all the boxes and see what’s inside.

Congrats to our educator Reggie Sauls, who just presented for the 1st time on his undergrad research CSUSB! His works features sand dollars from our friends The Alf Museum of Paleontology, where he was also an ACCESS So Cal Paleo alum!
