ON THIS DAY | Op 11 mei 1978 werd het Airborne Museum geopend in het voormalig Britse hoofdkwartier Hotel Hartenstein. Op deze krantenfoto is te zien dat generaal majoor Urquhart en een erewacht van Britse luchtlandingstroepen aanwezig zijn voor de openingshandelingen.

🪖 For 80 years, Lieutenant Anderson was without a formal burial place. Today in the Netherlands, he has finally been laid to rest by the MOD's Joint Casualty and Compassionate Centre. The 29-year-old was in killed in action in September 1944 during the Second World War.

Two Second World War soldiers have been laid to rest in Arnhem. Serving officer Lt Col Anderson was able to attend the funeral of the heroic great-uncle he had never met. Today’s Armed Forces are inspired by the service and sacrifice of the Greatest Generation. #Arnhem80
