We are shocked by the timing and short notice of tonight's announcement. We are awaiting further details but the safety of residents must come first. For now, tourism businesses in Cumbria remain closed and we urge everyone to continue to #StayHome.

Campsite Warden Holiday parks are closed by law (with only very limited exceptions). From the PM‘s announcement, it may be that the conditional plan/hope is for that law to change (earliest by July) if tests are met and with social distancing etc. More detail anticipated this afternoon

We’ve had reports of potential blue green algal blooms at Ullswater near Pooley Bridge. Though testing cannot yet to be carried out due to lockdown restrictions, the public are advised to take precautions. View online Government advice here >> bit.ly/ukalgae

Whatever Boris Johnson announces at 5pm, let’s remember that 2020 has been hideous enough without a further growth in the division in the country. Let’s all pull together and look after those who aren’t able to look after themselves. We’ll get through this better that way.

Tourism and hospitality businesses and individuals will be deeply worried by tonight’s PM announcement. In Cumbria we pull together and support one another to support jobs, people and communities. Please support local. Let local support you. #theperfectplacetobe #cumbriatourism
