Europe's first Wild River National Park has been created for the Vjosa river in Albania.
The park protects 400km from the Greek mountains to the Adriatic and is home to over 1,100 animal species.

New research: Groundwater extraction of 2,150 GT from 1993-2010 has shifted the earth's rotational pole by 78cm, with transfer from aquifers to oceans adding 6mm to sea level rise.

A report in Nature has found planetary boundaries for surface water and groundwater have been exceeded. 47% of aquifers are in decline and 34% of land is outside just and safe limit for surface water. This area is home to over half the world's people.
