We miss out on life because, many times, we are too negative or too serious. Charles Dickens once said; "There is nothing in the world so irresistibly contagious as laughter and good humor." Let us celebrate life with all its contradictions.

Good people do not be deceived. Law is not neutral. It is not color blind. The color of law is the color of power as opposed to poverty.

There is time for everything under the sun, so the Good Book says. Do you ever notice the power of time over your life? I do.

What a blessing! Amazing grace. Yes. Amazing grace. With it, you can achieve the impossible.

Listening to people tell their stories, and empathetically engaging with them, is a true act of empowerment. Our voices, our dignity, our resilience. Tell your story without fear.

Whenever humanity has been faced with grave challenges like wars, famine and pandemics, we have always overcome through resilience. It shall happen again with Covid-19. The night is darkest before dawn.

While the rich consistently held Covid-19 super-spreader events countrywide, the poor are now left to shoulder the burden on their own. Without safety nets for the poor, containment measures may not achieve much. Where did we stop caring for our own?

To my fellow scholars supervising students, let's be firm but empathetic, strict but knowledgeable, detailed but kind and busy but available online. Let's appreciate the student's genuine efforts because we walked the same path, not long ago.

Freedom of expression and freedom of the media are the foundation of all freedoms. They define our humanity and protect our dignity as persons. We may not agree with what our opponents say, but they have the right to express themselves, within the law.

The world honours the late Prof. Okoth Okombo today. It could have been his 71st birthday. Death took him away too soon. The university that treated him shabily in his last days is also seeking publicity by riding on his global achievements. Selfish.

The rot in our judiciary is painful. Just is sold like mitumba. Where did we go wrong? Yet with all the contradictions, there's no better country like Kenya. Together we can slay the python of graft, ethnicity and self-serving politics.

It feels great to live long enough to tell the story of your life, yourself.

Kenya, my motherland, is a great country. We remain pace setters for democratic ideals in the region. Despite the challenges we face, let us all continue to pull together to make Kenya greater. Peace is all we need now.
