How's this for an attention-grabbing headline?

'Topical testosterone produced an average increase of 60% in penile length and 52.9% in girth.' 📏

If we critique claims about high-carb foods, breakfast cereals or meat for being too broad and not capturing the (potentially opposing) effects of individual foods within these categories...

should we equally critique claims about ultra-processed foods, which is even broader?

I read 2 articles today. The 1st reported a medical condition affects up to 50% of people. The 2nd said something increased disease risk up to 50%

'up to' was used to mean the upper end of a wide range of possible values starting at 2%. Super misleading. Just state the range🤷‍♂️

Saying X is a cause of Y does not imply that:

- X is the only cause of Y
- X is the primary cause of Y
- X is a sufficient cause of Y
- X is a necessary cause of Y

Or that:

- Y should be treated with an intervention that targets X

Out of all the chronic diseases, evidence of diet-cancer relationships are easily the lowest quality and most open to interpretation. I don’t hold strong positions here other than that cancer is *not* a food-borne illness, haha.

An interesting thread about the statistical issues with the meta-analysis that concluded 'A substantial increase in LDL cholesterol is likely for individuals with low but not high BMI with consumption of a [low carbohydrate diet]'
