Childcare is skilled labour. Lets advocate for better pay, safer conditions, and dignity for every caregiver. #TransformingCare #Covaw

"She's just a housegirl." This phrase dismisses the skilled, emotional labor of childcare work. Childcare workers are educators, nurturers, and professionals. They deserve dignity and fair treatment. #TransformingCare Coalition on Violence Against Women (COVAW)

Quality childcare opens doors for parents. When caregivers are trained and supported, parents especially mothers, can pursue work, education, or business opportunities confidently. #TransformingCare

Parents, employers, feminists, policymakers this one is for ALL of us. How do we build a Kenya where the women raising our children are paid fairly, respected & protected by law? Bring your questions #TransformingCare Coalition on Violence Against Women (COVAW)

Preparing employers involves changing learned negative behavior and change in conditioning related to care work. Care work is no longer a last resort profession. It is a profession that contributes to the larger economy directly and indirectly. Transforming Care Coalition on Violence Against Women (COVAW)

The middle men in care work are important to care work. Although some extort and coerce desperate care workers. They can be the collective link to negotiating better terms, safety and pay for care workers #transformcare #covaw

Paid childcare work is women’s rights. As Charity Munyi (ACT–COVAW) reminds us, valuing childcare workers mostly women, advances gender justice and strengthens our communities. #TransformingCare Coalition on Violence Against Women (COVAW)

Maulyne Alividza Agala said it best: “When the sector is recognized, people will be able to respect it.” Let’s start that recognition TODAY #TransformingCare Coalition on Violence Against Women (COVAW)

The ACT project uses a gender-transformative approach, addressing social norms and structural barriers that have long undervalued childcare work, most of which is performed by women. Coalition on Violence Against Women (COVAW) #TransformingCare

Research has shown that gender based violence is most likely to be perpetrated by a close relation, partner or acquittance. These statistics though shocking show us where focus on fighting gender based violence ought to be. #timetocare #16daysofactivism #makecarecount

Care workers are prone to GBV because their work does not allow for collective protection by unions, care work bodies and care groups . They can only individually pursue justice when GBV happens which is not a walk in the park. #timetocare #16daysofactivism #makecarecount

We should exhaustively peruse the recently passed Cybercrime act to see how we can use it to our advantage in addressing issues to do with digitally facilititated GBV . #16daysofactivism #timetocare #makecarecount

The concept of active allies. Is the most effective way to push for responsibility in the technology and digital space. Each person should take accountability for how they use the digital and social media spaces. #16daysofactivism #timetocare #makecarecount

To add onto what Evans Ouma said, it's negative masculinity which contributes to stereotypes about care work and gender roles. The male child is conditioned from a young age to see housework as demeaning to their masculinity. #16daysofactivism #timetocare #makecarecount

Don Mandela puts it rightly the GBV activism conversation shouldn't be sporadic. An inclusive conversation where everyone plays a part from community level to upper level change makers= sustainable structures and systems. #timetocare #16daysofactivism #makecarecount

What we forget about digital violence is it's relationship to mental health issues. Which is Crisis in our nation. Digital violence is easier to perpetrate as the perpetrator expects no repercussions or being held accountable for their actions. #16daysofactivism #timetocare
