We caught Yellowfin earlier this week and trust us when we say you don’t want to miss it. Marek Horn’s play is sharp and very funny, expertly directed by Ed Madden, and with four actors at the top of their game 🐠

Yellowfin was just superb. Phenomenal writing, astute direction, delivered by a cast that has you clinging to the tips of every sentence. Poss one of my favourite new plays ever??

So, that was YELLOWFIN. Six years since Marek Horn sent me a draft of his play, and a year since Jessie Anand’s first attempt to get it on was scuppered by the dreaded. And all for the good — it mightn’t have been half the pleasure without this team. Their work is mighty.

I am still reeling from #Yellowfin Southwark Playhouse this weekend. Marek Horn, Ed Madden & Jessie Anand Productions created something spectacular. Truly one of the best new plays I’ve seen in the past 5 years, Every beat, line, set, LX, sound, costume, and acting choice was perfect. I want more.

The beautiful screenplay for MORNING is by theatre’s very own Sam Steiner, who is wisely not on Twitter but should have this massive news shouted about. His writing for film is as bold, distinctive and humane as his work for the stage, and I am so proud of him.

Get along to this little gem of a play from LucyRoslyn, which steals into the heart by cover of two profoundly deft and delicate performances. Produced with customary care by Jessie Anand, it’s a kind of 80-minute (air-conned!) oasis.

So proud of Sam. Neither of us would be anywhere without this play; for it to have this kind of life and reach is a mad and amazing thing. Almost eight years ago…
