The remains of U.S. Army Air Force Sergeant Jack Hohlfeld were laid to rest on Monday, Aug. 26, 2024 in La Crosse, WI. He survived the Bataan Death March and was held in the Cabanatuan Japanese POW camp until his death on Dec. 26, 1942. Rest in Peace, Sir! #WeRememberthem

WWII Veteran Grace Carr has worked as a nurse at the same hospital for 80 years, St. Luke’s Sacred Heart Campus in Allentown, PA. Although she retired from her nursing job at age 62, Carr continues as a volunteer at the hospital. #WeRememberThem

WWII Veteran Donald V. Banta was laid to rest last month in Riverside, CA, 80 years after he was killed in Germany at 21. U.S. Army Air Force Tech. Sgt. Banta was killed in action in early 1944 when his plane was hit by anti-aircraft fire over Gotha, Germany. #WeRememberThem

John Joseph McVeigh of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, a Sergeant in the U.S. Army, was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for his heroic actions on August 29, 1944, near Brest, France. He was just 22 years old when he was killed. #WeRememberThem

On Aug. 30, 1945, days before the actual surrender of Japan, General Douglas MacArthur arrived in Japan at Atsugi Airbase. He was to lead the Occupation of Japan after the war and wanted the Japanese people’s first sight of him to be of a confident, brave leader. #WeRememberThem

A ceremony was held on Aug. 30, 2024 in Fortuna, CA to honor WWII Veteran Don Harms who died on July 29, 2024 at 105. Hes was a machine gunner in the 35th ID and then a Staff Sergeant in D Company of the 5th Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment. Rest in Peace, Sir! #WeRememberThem
