On this day, 13 April 1944, William Frost Jr was killed in a crash, just north of Christchurch. He'd only been in England for nine days, arriving from New York to fly with the 404th Fighter Group out of Winkton Airfield. The P-47 Thunderbolt he was flying at the time is pictured.
