In 2023, the largest representation of ethnic minority staff across NHS trusts in England was at Agenda for Change (AfC) band 5 at 38.5%. Representation at very senior managers pay band is steadily increasing - a 61.7% since 2018.

In 2023, 26.4% (380,108) of staff working in NHS trusts in England were from an ethnic minority background. An increase from 19.7% in 2019, 21% in 2020, 22.4% in 2021 and 24.2% in 2022
