The Things They Carried gave everyone ration bags with crackers, chocolate, and candy cigarettes. Then 20% of the class found draft notices under their seats and had to go through grueling physical challenges as Vietnam soldiers. Rug burns happened. #APLang #GoWO

The Handmaid's Tale split us into groups to solve challenges in an Escape Room. Commanders could talk and steal ideas from other groups; wives could only nod and gesture to each other, and Handmaids could not communicate at all (there was some grunting and growling). #APLang

When the Emperor Was Divine gave a presentation about Japanese Americans' experience during WWII and then sent us on a scavenger hunt around the school to find meaningful symbols related to the book #APLang #GoWO

The Kite Runner fed us an Afghani rice dish and then had us build kites and fly them outside. For once, the wind complied! #APLang #GoWo

The Underground Railroad sent us on different "railway stops" around the school with riddles to solve at each in order to get closer to freedom #APLang #GoWO

Memory Keeper's Daughter sent groups around the school to take photos, enacting important moments from the book, then upload them and vote for the best group while eating cake decorated by Alondra! #APLang #GoWO

Unwind led us in a game of Sardines to represent the children who run from being "unwound." We played an outdoor edition followed by indoor edition. #APLang #GoWO

In the Time of Butterflies had us color significant symbols from the book and answer questions about our feelings about family, patriotism, and conflict. Ice cream and cookies followed #APLang #GoWO
