The ocean outside of Los Angeles is nuts today. Never seen it so rough. Reminds me of the North Sea in Europe. This was taken on our approach into LAX, which took us way out over the Santa Monica bay before landing at LAX from the ocean side. #fire #windstorm

This frozen clock in Pacific Palisades shows the time that power went out during the firestorm. Located in front of the US Bank building corner of Sunset Blvd and Swartmore Ave. Businesses that had been in this community for decades were destroyed here. #PalisadesWildfire

A defiant US flag flies amidst total devastation in Pacific Palisades caused by the fast moving firestorm. I was told this destroyed building was over 100 years old.

Los Angeles County has now sent TWO emergency evacuation messages to the ENTIRE county by mistake in less than 12 hours. The most recent one was sent just after 4 AM. We deserve better. The incompetence is unbelievable.

The fires in Los Angeles also took out cell towers. Starlink is helping us provide coverage so we can continue to report from the Altadena and Pacific Palisades firestorm. Thanks, Elon Musk!

A new shift of firefighters rolls into Altadena, California. Most of these engines are from out of town, many from Northern California.

The fire burning near Mountain Gate and Mandeville Canyon is currently the focus of a massive aerial assault. We counted no less than 8 water dropping helicopters in a row hitting the fire in the canyon. Plus multiple repeated runs by planes dropping Phos-Chek fire retardant.

American Airlines Flight AA1006 was flying from Colorado Springs to Dallas. It diverted to Denver Airport and the engine caught fire near the gate. Plane was successfully evacuated, but some passengers were seen taking their large backpacks with them. Here is the flight track:

American Airlines flight AA1006 diverted to Denver after experiencing “engine vibrations” and then caught fire at the gate. Possible compressor stall? That usually does not result in engine fires though.
