**POSTDOCTORAL POSITION** A new postdoc position is open in the #Cortese lab Tigem Telethon. The lab's research will be focused on the mechanisms of #SARSCOV2 induced pathogenesis. Start July 2021, duration 3 years with possible renewal. More details at: tigem.it/contact-us/job…

Two weeks left to apply for our new international graduate school for cellular biophysics. IMPRS on Cellular Biophysics imprs-cbp.cloud.opencampus.net

New data on HIV-1 nuclear uncoating and visualization of viral DNA now published in eLife - the journal: elifesciences.org/articles/64776 Thanks to Vojtech Zila @SandraSchffrdck Bojana Lucic Vibor Laketa and others not on twitter CIID_Heidelberg. See thread 1/10

HIV capsids get into the nucleus, cluster together and break open to release replication complexes. We used FM and 3D CLEM to reveal these events. Congrats to Thorsten Müller and others from Kräusslich Müller Marina Lusic Vibor Laketa Labs/@ciidheidelberg doi.org/10.7554/eLife.…

#CSHRetro starting today! Abstract book cover from our recent review on Viruses in the Nucleus in CSH Perspective Nucleus, courtesy by Vojtech Zila and Erica Margiotta cshperspectives.cshlp.org/cgi/content/lo…

I am very excited to share: “The new paper from @Wittbrodtlab showing how #medaka and #zebrafish pluripotent embryonic cells assemble into #retina #organoids is out in eLife - the journal. Many thanks and congratulations to all people involved! elifesciences.org/articles/66998

A milestone study of HIV-1 maturation by Kun Qu and John Briggs, together with Vojtech Zila and many others! Happy and honoured to participate this study! This epic study demonstrates the advancement in both technology (#cryoET) and biology (HIV-1 matrix and maturation)!

This is not about COVID for a change ;) I am excited to share my first HIV-1 paper in Paul Bieniasz’s lab! In collaboration with Bou-Nader lab and Jinwei Zhang Lab we show the HIV-1 matrix-tRNA complex structure and it’s implications for Gag localization tinyurl.com/4n6uarx5

(1/6) Work by Christian Zimmerli and @MatteoFFM in collaboration with Jan Kosinski, Julia Mahamid and Hummer Lab published today Science Magazine reveals that nuclear pores are mechanosensitive. They dilate and constrict in living cells. science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…

Here is our brief summary of recent observations on capsid functions in HIV-1 early replication. Thanks to Thorsten Müller, Barbara Müller and Hans-Georg Kräusslich #PLOSPathogens: HIV-1 capsid is the key orchestrator of early viral replication dx.plos.org/10.1371/journa…

This year's Annual Review of Virology is online and open access. Check out our review on the early phase of HIV replication, including testable models for nuclear import and uncoating. Thanks to Vojtech Zila, Barbara Müller and Hans-Georg Kräusslich. annualreviews.org/doi/full/10.11…

In a great collaboration with Hummer Lab and the Kräusslich lab, Jan Philipp Kreysing, Maziar Heidari, Vojtech Zila and others tackle what happens when HIV capsid goes through an NPC. Instead of the NPC cracking the capsid, the capsid appears to crack the NPC (Max Planck Institute of Biophysics CIID_Heidelberg).

Thanks to all coauthors: Sergio Cruz-León, Agnieszka Obarska, Vibor Laketa, Sonja Welsch, Jürgen Köfinger, Beata Turonova, and especially my joint first authors Maziar Heidari and Vojtech Zila. Also fantastic supervision by Beck Laboratory, Hummer Lab, and Hans-Georg Kräusslich.

So happy that my main PhD project on HIV-1 nuclear entry is now out in Cell. I want to especially thank my supervisor Martin Beck Laboratory and our amazing collaborators Maziar Heidari from Hummer Lab, Vojtech Zila from the Kräusslich lab and many others.

Our work on HIV-1 matrix, led by James Stacey and Dominik Hrebik Dominik Hrebik, is in this week's nature. Extended explanatory video from Margot Riggi. nature.com/articles/s4158…

Excited to share our pre-print on the molecular architecture of heterochromatin in human cells🧬🔬 w/ Jan Philipp Kreysing, Johannes Betz,Turoňová lab, Marina Lusic, Hummer lab, Beck Laboratory, Max Planck Institute of Biophysics 🔗 Preprint here: doi.org/10.1101/2025.0…
