We believe that if we had not held the last national prison strike with a demand to vote for ALL, there would not have been a real national debate and actions about it for anyone with a record that kept them from voting. Prisoners caused that conversation

Passing S2846 means that families no longer have to be a revenue source for Sheriffs - especially low income families deciding what essentials they can afford: rent, utilities, food, transportation - or phone calls to their incarcerated loved ones. #KeepFamiliesConnected

Today, we sent a letter to Mass Secretary of State asking that his office provide badly-needed guidance, to that end. 54 organizations signed on. It's one small step taken in a battle that groups like Emancipation Initiative have been fighting for years. #mapoli Letter: commoncause.org/massachusetts/…

In MA, our community members who are incarcerated inside of prisons are excluded from participating in elections and all other aspects of the political process. This year, I decided to donate my vote through Emancipation Initiative’s #DonateYourVote campaign.

anyways, this year i decided to donate my vote to someone in prison thanks to Emancipation Initiative !! people in prison cannot vote and sometimes even after their time in prison, they aren’t able to depending on the state. highly recommend this experience.

RIGHT NOW: protesters are at Mass Dept of Public Health demanding they immediately reduce the prison population to save the lives of incarcerated people. @massDPH, @massgovernor has failed our loved ones. You must #FreeThemAll4PublicHealth

Workers were instructed to use alternate exits to avoid our protest but our message is clear: Mass. Public Health needs to step in to save the people incarcerated in MA Corrections and county jails. Prisoners are still MA residents & *PEOPLE* & must be protected. #FreeThemAllForPublicHealth

Centering the voices of & in deep partnership w/ incarcerated advocates, our amendment to end jail-based voter disenfranchisement passed, impacting 7,000-9,000 eligible incarcerated voters & expanding voting rights for incarcerated people for the first time in decades.
