Gun is fine, comrade! Or is it? Maybe your AK needs an upgrade. After all, that is the American 🇺🇸 way. In our ongoing series on AK upgrades, our Kalashnikov expert Vladimir (who else?) discusses considerations for lights and lasers. Link in the next post!

My new article about AKs on The Firearm Blog thefirearmblog.com/blog/what-to-l… I tried to dive into the old caliber debate, and hopefully my take will help people to make the right choice.

Yesterday ZASTAVA ARMS USA presented the civilian version of their M84 machinegun in Vegas. In former Yugoslavia, this gun had two very different nicknames: "The Sower of Death" and "Ceca". If you wanna know why, check out my article at The Firearm Blog thefirearmblog.com/blog/the-sower…

Once I saw CZ Firearms "Legend" release, I couldn't help but remember a bunch of CZ 75s I inspected and repaired in Iraq. They still had "Made in Czechoslovakia" on the slide. For its time, CZ 75 was by far the best pistol in Warsaw Pact countries, far ahead of any competition

Almost three years ago, I wrote an article about the short Tabuk rifle for the RECOIL (Official) Once upon a time in Iraq, I came across a late variant that looked very unique (photo featured in the article), and I still hope one day it will end up at some museum.

If you want to know more about Soviet and Russian small arms, make sure you follow Lynndon 🇺🇸 It never ceases to amaze me how much someone who is not from the country can know about that country's arms industry.

Yeah, it was definitely interesting. Once I tried to calculate how much ammo I shot through different AK-12 prototypes and stopped at 14 000 rounds. Good times

No doubt, ShAK/Ash-12 is a fascinating weapon. However, I could never get an answer about its purpose from anyone, even people involved in its development. If I ever need to visit Jurassic Park or hunt space bugs from "Starship Troopers", this weapon would be on top of my list.

Many were shocked when the Indian company SSS Defence offered their rifle for the UK "Grayburn" program. I wasn't. My first encounter with this company was back in 2020, and even back then their display was quite impressive Vivek Krishnan IndiaGuns.com thefirearmblog.com/blog/2020/02/1…

Recently, Safar Publishing announced a new book about Swiss rifles: "Guardians of Neutrality – Swiss Rifles Through the Ages" written by LeFeuAuxPoudres I always loved the SIG 550 series, but in 2013, one SIG 552 almost changed my life: thefirearmblog.com/blog/how-i-alm…

I came across this AK type 1 in Afghanistan many years ago. Made in 1950, it served the Soviets, Afghan police, mujahedeen, Taliban, and finally ended up with a security team protecting the university. I thought it would be its final job before retirement, but sadly, I was wrong

Probably some of my best writing. I traveled all over Iraq, taking pictures for this article and talking to people. Lots of good memories. Would you like to read more about the history of Iraqi weapons?

Back in the fall of 2015, I did the first-ever presentation of the RPK-16 light machine gun. Recently, Rosenritter did a great video about the history of this gun; check it out if you haven't already.

At the Shot Show, Atlantic Firearms announced that they will start importing AK parts from the Azerbaijan IGLIM factory. I was waiting for someone to make that move for years. If you wanna know more about Iglim AKs, check out my article on The Firearm Blog thefirearmblog.com/blog/aks-from-…

It is definitely not the first time, but still... I just love how, overnight, everyone suddenly became an expert on Kurds and Kurdistan. I've been to the region quite a few times and have nothing but good memories. Hopefully, things won't get worse.
