Congratulations Lucy Powell MP, Labour’s newly elected Deputy Leader. Lucy has always been a proud defender of Labour values, and that is exactly what we need in this moment. Together, we will fight for Britain. For decency and national renewal.
So the outcome of Zoë Garbett and the other TWO Hackney Green Party councillors calling an Extraordinary council meeting & wasting the time of the most senior officers & 54 other Cllrs. was no change in the council’s position on managing its employees pension fund in a legal fashion.
The Extraordinary Hackney Council meeting called by Zoë Garbett & the two other Hackney Green Party councillors ended up with Green councillor Cllr Alastair Binnie-Lubbock 💚🌍 🍉 (he/they) using an expletive twice, being applauded by Green leader Zoë Garbett, but reprimanded by the Speaker of Hackney, and an apology!
Hey Hackney Council, This was my first experience of your Voi Technology bikes in Hackney on Earl Street. Can they be removed.
Today is the start of CPT Scotland Conference and we're launching new research into bus speeds. 900k trips are made by bus in Scotland every day, but the average bus travels at just 11.3mph. Speeding up buses needs to be a priority to unlock economic gains. scotsman.com/news/politics/…
The Bus Services (No. 2) Bill [HL] gets Royal Assent today. The government is committed to enabling cyclists to plough through bus stops without any hope that they will stop for blind people, who are sure to self-exclude themselves from their bus services. bills.parliament.uk/bills/3910/sta…
Time and again Will Norman announces floating bus stops inaccessible to blind people. @rnib, Guide Dogs and NFBUK have all called for a halt to this roll out.
There is no doubt that both the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan and his Cycling Commissioner Will Norman know floating bus stops contravene Article 9 of the UN Convention on the Rights of Disabled People to be able to live and travel independently.
Government ministers have said blind and partially blind people will be able to catch the bus. MPs must hold them to account on floating bus stops. Simon Lightwood MP Lilian Greenwood Bridget Phillipson Sarah Edwards for Tamworth NFBUK RNIB annamtylor
.Will Norman doesn’t tell us that they are in fact taking bus lane out as part of this scheme and that they misinform decision makers using euphemisms like ‘challenging’ in the equality assessments instead of telling them blind people will be excluded from their bus services.
Will Norman Waltham Forest Council The sketch on the left works for nobody, this design requires cyclists to stop at each bus stop which they don't, confuses Guide Dogs, endangers pedestrians, particularly #blind and #disabled people RNIB NFBUK & not compliant with the guidance from our official standards body.
.Will Norman’s never been interested in how blind people navigate our streets. If he had been he would have known this design of Zebra crossing is really difficult for them and a 20mm delineator between footway and cycle track near impossible to detect with a cane or by a dog.
.Hackney Council called the Green Lanes cycle track ‘protected’. In fact it was anything but. In the 3 years before implementation there were ZERO serious cycle injuries and 8 slight injuries. In the three years after the scheme’s a disaster with 4 serious and 12 slight injuries.
Can London Cycling Commissioner, @Willnorman, or Hackney Council tell how one can safely turn right off of the kerbed bike track into Livermere Road?
