Methodology question for those who also map history: Do you map general references? For instance, "Some pirates attacked parts of Frisia" - too broad to geolocate a specific location. But how to show this on a map? Any discussion would be most appreciated!

On the hunt for 9th century Irish/English (British)/Frankish kingdom boundary shape files (or similar) for GIS. Can't find anything Open Access and I - a lazy PhD - do not want to trace these out myself. Any leads? #medievaltwitter #historicalGIS

Can anyone think of a good map of the Danelaw that they trust (ie, citable source)? All my books on the Vikings in England are still at the office 🙄 #medievaltwitter #historicalGIS #Vikings
