Idomeneo. Victorian Opera and Opera Australia . Palais Theatre, St Kilda. Review by Patricia Di Risio. stagewhispers.com.au/reviews/idomen…
In a noble and heart-warming reimagining of Mozart’s 18th century reimagined Greek myth, Victorian Opera and Opera Australia’s Idomeneo has 6 months to tweak with to add further polish. My thoughts Arts Review: artsreview.com.au/idomeneo/
Very honoured and proud to have received this award from #Australia Green Room Awards and especially to Victorian Opera for the opportunity to sing with such a wonderful company. #thankyou
'Mozart took the outmoded form and did something highly original with it, infusing it with a lyricism and humanity not seen before.' Peter Rose reviews 'Idomeneo' | Victorian Opera Opera Australia PalaisTheatre australianbookreview.com.au/arts-update/10…
★★★★☆ 'This new production of Mozart’s Idomeneo marked what one can only hope will be an ongoing collaboration between Victorian Opera and Opera Australia.' Victorian Opera Opera Australia #opera #music #idomeneo #mozart bit.ly/3JOIBXQ
Wow! ‘Sweeney Todd’ is going to be a delicious piece of theatre!! Starring Ben Mingay as Sweeney Todd and Antoinette Halloran as Mrs Lovett 🥧🪒 Sydney Opera House from 22 July #Sweeneytodd
So, I’d better lap up tonight’s opening performance of Victorian Opera’s English Eccentrics University of Melbourne’s Union Theatre. Given how rarely composer Malcom Williamson’s 1964 work is staged, it’s highly unlikely I’ll get to see it again.
What a fabulously zany collection of divertissements English Eccentrics is! Everyone has their idiosyncrasies - they just need to be made room for. It was such a privilege to see this pool of talented young artists creating memorable theatre in this Victorian Opera production.
★★★½ Emerging artists of Victorian Opera interpret numerous oddballs of history in this handsomely staged production of a forgotten mid-century gem. limelight-arts.com.au/reviews/englis…
