Thurs., Dec. 6 marks the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. This day was established in 1991 by the Parliament of Canada, marking the anniversary of the murders in 1989 of 14 young women at l'École Polytechnique de Montréal. Poster by Jasmin Bull

As we commemorate this day, we hope to raise awareness at Victoria School from kindergarten to Grade 12 as we honour the missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls in Canada.

This week, we hope our school community will engage in this issue and reflect on the ways we can commit to stand up against gender-based violence.

Consider joining us for a circle discussion facilitated by Elder Florence Large Thursday at lunch in Rm 2104. Families & students of all ages are welcome. We acknowledge that this may be a particularly difficult time for some students. Please see Student Services for support.

For more than 20 years Edmonton Public Schools has held a District Recognition event honouring contributions to the District. Congratulations to Victoria parent & guest artist Will Johnson, teacher-librarian Rachel McOuat & our Arts team who were honoured at this year’s ceremony.

Members of the Crazy For You cast visited @KidsKottageEDM to drop off donations for their program and sing a few songs for the kids. Thanks to all the cast members who brought in items to support the Kids Kottage and their work with families.
