Thanks Amby Burfoot for writing this article on our latest scientific publication! 👟🔬 New Study Shows The Performance Difference Between Fresh And Well-Used Midsoles, + PEBA Vs EVA Foam marathonhandbook.com/midsole-foams/

🚨Published our latest manuscript in Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise 👇 Víctor Rodrigo Sergio Rodríguez-Barbero Expósito Chema González Ravé JJSalinero @woutersinas Grupo de Investigación en Rendimiento Deportivo journals.lww.com/acsm-msse/abst…

Two near-identical shoes, one w/ old-school EVA midsole, the other w/ PEBA superfoam. Both have carbon plates. New: running economy 1.8% better with PEBA After 450km: no difference The foam makes the magic in supershoes, but it doesn't last forever! ⬇️ outsideonline.com/health/trainin…

If you want some more information on different shoe foams and carbon plates or now long we speculate shoes last, check out this article. Based on a paper from Víctor Rodrigo and written by Alex Hutchinson tinyurl.com/mr2bktrj

Some data from the excellent study from Víctor Rodrigo et al on the effect of different midsoles on running economy and biomechanics. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.11…

Mick Leahy UBC School of Kinesiology lululemon Increasing the pressure of the underband, increased the amount of mechanical work the respiratory muscles had to perform, and increased whole body oxygen consumption (i.e. worse running economy). On average VO2 increased 1.3% from the loose to tight condition-range: -0.3 to 3.2%.

Cool study: Shalaya Kipp et al. find that sports bras at self-selected band tightness interfere with breathing mechanics, increasing oxygen consumption by >1%. Even cooler: Insta video of her swallowing the balloon catheter to measure internal pressure.⬇️ outsideonline.com/health/trainin…
