It was a great honor for my students and I to be at HABJ’s event, which honored #Houston icon Jose Grinan and many others. Mayor Turner named Nov. 2, 2019 as Jose Grinan Day.

For showing us how to conquer adversity with grace... For showing us how to "Say it Loud!"... For show us how to walk as a King, without losing the common touch.... For showing us just how powerful we are... Thank you #ChadwickBoseman #RestInPower #BlackPantherForever

Heartbroken. My friend and fellow Bison Chadwick Boseman was brilliant, kind, learned, and humble. He left too early but his life made a difference. Sending my sincere condolences to his family.

I’m so shocked and heartbroken about Chadwick. He was such a bright light, such a gifted performer. He brought grace, elegance and power to everything he did. He always seemed to carry our ancestors with him. And now he joins them far too soon.

Chadwick came to the White House to work with kids when he was playing Jackie Robinson. You could tell right away that he was blessed. To be young, gifted, and Black; to use that power to give them heroes to look up to; to do it all while in pain – what a use of his years.

I had the honor of photographing Chadwick Boseman in 2012 months before the movie 42: The Jackie Robinson Story was released. He was a guest at a CBC reception hosted by Sheila Jackson Lee . “To be young, gifted and Black!” #wakandaforever

Tell me again why you think that an NFL player who kneels peacefully is a “disgrace” “un-American” and “disrespecting our military” but you have no problem with these folks?
