Last term we decided to focus on teaching behaviour explicitly to our pupils. We had recently maintained our outstanding grade but felt like behaviour wasn't quite where we wanted it to be. We decided to explicitly teach pupils our values. This is how it went 🧵

Want a quiet fishing/camping/caravan break, see this place close to the border of Notts/Lincs, NG23 6SQ. Plusses: no electric, no WiFi. Minuses: chance of being distracted by the wonderful wildlife and daily ice cream. 🐇🦆🦉🍦£20 pn including fishing. facebook.com/groups/6361955…?

Boosting subject knowledge can be enjoyable! Take a leaf from this school's book: offer teachers interesting material (like children's books) during a meeting, then discuss it. This sparks curiosity and leads to ongoing, voluntary learning. /1

Still got 2 weeks of the summer holidays left! This one has been one of the best: at 50 I've finally stopped feeling guilty for not being productive every day and enjoying the quiet, restful days as well as the busy busy days.

Learning what my signs are, telling those around me what they are (in case I'm too 'in the tunnel' to see) and having a plan to help myself/access help is part of managing my own mental health and well-being. Not just for young minds, but all minds.

Watching ambulance and really struck by after every call someone checking that staff are ok. Schools should be the same. Every day, someone needs to check staff are ok. Doesn’t all need to be 1 person but everyone needs to be able to talk through challenges & feel part of family

Look after your headteacher!!! Hearing many stories of Headteachers who are feeling completely overwhelmed! Heads do such a demanding job. Look after them!

Great first day today: yes, it was boiling, a wasp flew in and my new shoes have ruined my feet but the vast majority of students seemed to be happy to be back, lessons were lovely, I ate lunch away from my desk and I'm all planned for tomorrow. Happy days.

My step daughter has just started Year 7. In Year 6 there were 2 teachers & 1 classroom, now in Year 7 there are 21 teachers, 22 classrooms & a 2 week timetable. It's so important form tutors, teachers & Heads of Year are supportive of the transition & challenges. ❤️

Reminded that staff about our fabulous subsidised staff lunches provided by our fabulous school kitchens and our daily tea/coffee and toast at break time as part of my #lookafteryourwellbeing post in our weekly bulletin. It's a lovely welcome for new staff.

Great day today: a usually very stroppy, fairly disengaged, low confidence y10 told me at the end of p6 that he found my lesson 'not completely terrible'. I'll take that!

Started crochet club after school today, was joined by 5 Y7 girls, loved every minute. Good for their mental health and well-being, good for my mental health and well-being. 🧶

Rishi Sunak told Beth Rigby "That's not what the Public wants." When asked about a General Election. Like if you want a General Election RT if you really want one. Liar Rishi Sunak has to go. #imAceleb

The pioneering #SureStart programme, which set up “one-stop shops” in disadvantaged areas, bringing early years, health and family support services under a single roof, is widely regarded as one of New Labour’s most popular and successful policies. theguardian.com/education/2024…
