As Covid cases go up (as expected) couples are getting nervous about committing to deposits/contracts again. The govt must see that the way to give confidence back & stimulate the wedding economy (now worth £16bn + due to postponements) is by backing an insurance scheme. Paul Scully

Currently insurers are not offering Covid19 cancellation cover for weddings. Confidence is still low. People are testing positive or told to isolate. Govnt needs to address this market failure urgently. They have already done it for the film & TV industry. HMT have the solution.

Brilliant. Paul Scully even leaking this warning = complete drop off of enquiries, people cancelling and postponing, and a huge blow to cash flow and mental health in our sector. It’s now critical we get financial help. We cannot do a THIRD year like this. @Siobhan_Baillie 🚨🚨

“We might restrict weddings to 15 and funerals to 30 in the new year” Oh really? Not sure anyone is going to swallow that when they have this image etched in their memories. Seated meal only, mandatory masks for guests, no standing drinks reception… and they did this.

So I’m shooting a wedding in Northumberland on 2nd January. I’m friends with the bride and MiL to be on FB. They are absolutely beside themselves at the thought that the wedding might not go ahead! Cheers Boris Johnson! You’ve learnt nothing after 2 years! Same mistakes again!

Here is Sajid Javid on Andrew Marr recognising that weddings are being cancelled. That’s a huge supply chain impacted each time. Rishi Sunak Paul Scully 🚨 Yet another peak enquiry season is likely to be lost alongside the postponed work pushed into winter.

As weddings are forced to cancel, what happened to all the food, flowers, favours, decorations… and money invested? Never mind the jobs, businesses and supply chain. What happens to them? Oh and btw we don’t open again overnight. So a slump in new bookings = crisis.

The lockdown day the “work gathering” occurred 750 couples cancelled their weddings. That w/end it was 3400. That month 23,000. This Christmas week our exhausted, demoralised and fearful sector is spending it’s time trying to pacify distraught couples. Enough. ##WeddingsTaskforce

20th May 2020, my children couldn’t bare being apart from their Nana one more day; this was our solution. Feels so ridiculous now, but knowing you didn’t bother paying this much attention to the rules is a total piss take #BorisOut #DowningStreetParty #may20 Boris Johnson

Another great achievement for Angmering student Henry Holloway! Henry spent the first part of the Easter Holidays in Barcelona where he was competing in the Globasket 2022 Tournament. For 6 days his team ‘BTM Basketball’ went undefeated and went on to win the finals!

We're told the winding up petition against the London Lions was dismissed today after they reached an agreement with the petitioner creditor with a payment for a portion of the debt. Additionally, we're informed a potential buyer of the club is lined up and ready to go.

So let me get this right, a father of two has been jailed for over 3 years for helping a load of poor people watch the football. Whilst the BBC news anchor who purchased and downloaded 41 indecent images of children walks free on a suspended sentence? Make that make sense!
