Bhāvanā Bhāvanā Magazine , the mathematics magazine, is always a pleasure to read (bhavana.org.in ). While some articles rapidly fly over the non-mathematical head, there’s always something to relish before that happens. Other pieces are accessible to all. The latest

We’re most fortunate to have Professor Eve Marder, one of the great pioneers in systems neuroscience, give a keynote at our conference later this month in Split, Croatia. Marder Lab's work challenged the dogma that neural circuits were hardwired—that circuits could be completely

Today, I gave an informal seminar to students and faculty on the accelerating impact new AI models like o3 will have on research and how to navigate those changes. 👇 Resistance is Futile: AGI-Augmented Research and the New Scientific Method youtu.be/x6gv68fHw7Q?si… via YouTube

In 1984, Francis Crick described a biological conundrum: Memories last years, while most molecules degrade in days or weeks. “How then is memory stored in the brain so that its trace is relatively immune to molecular turnover?” he wrote in Nature. quantamagazine.org/the-molecular-…

we write too much. more than we can read, and many small incremental things. i think there should be some mechanism to restrict paper submissions and acceptances per person per year, to force people to prioritize their best work, and invest more in it.

If you eat something and get sick, you shouldn't eat that thing again. Problem is, there is a long delay between when you eat and when you feel sick -- how can the brain link the two events? This cool paper shows us how the process works nature.com/articles/s4158…

Wouldn't it be great if we could not only image large connectomic volumes, but also completely reconstruct them? And if a whole mouse brain project didn't cost billions? With the PATHFINDER preprint (biorxiv.org/content/10.110…), we preview a future where it doesn't have to.
