This week, #VAW team members visited #Rhone glacier to install new cameras for our near real-time mass balance stations. We also conducted steam drilling and ice temperature measurements. Thankfully, the weather on the south side was much better! ☀️📷

Last week was packed with fieldwork! 🌍 In Episode 1, PhD student Janosch Beer and several team members visited 4 different glaciers in #Valais, installing englacial thermistors and conducting #GPR surveys.

In Episode 2, colleagues Andreas Bauder and Raphael Moser were out in the field, renewing ground control points for #Swiss #orthophoto imaging. 🗺️📸

In Episode 3, #VAW member Mauro Werder ventured to the Aletsch Glacier to measure supraglacial channels, while Matthias Huss was out on Persgletscher. 🏔️📏

Astounding changes at the #Tschierva #Glacier (GR) captured by Leo Hösli. The glacier has lost about 1 km of its length since 1935. A recent #landslide on April 14th at Piz Scerscen has covered the glacier's tongue in debris, changing its ablation dynamics.
