On April 8, the moon will pass over the sun in Texas from 1:30pm- 1:50
Expect heavy traffic/sudden stops by drivers.
Be on alert for distracted pedestrians looking to the sky
Keep your headlights on while driving, even in the daylight
Do not wear eclipse glasses while driving.

Friendly Reminder:
Uvalde CISD will be closed on Monday, April 8th in observance of the solar eclipse. Classes will resume on Tuesday, April 9th.

Look at the ground and you might see shadow bands racing across the ground and up walls. Look at the sky and you should be able to see the brighter stars if you are not in a city. Look at the horizon if you have a clear view, you might be able to see a 360-degree sunset.

When the moon's shadow races across 🌍 on April 8 it will slow & then speed up again.
It will travel @ speeds ranging from 10 mil miles/hour — half the speed of the fastest supernova explosion ever detected — to as slow as 1565 mph, about 2x the speed of a supersonic aircraft.

Viewing any part of the bright Sun through a camera lens, binoculars, or a telescope without a special-purpose solar filter secured over the front of the optics will instantly cause severe eye injury.

In Lincoln Douglas Debate, three competitors faced three rounds of debates as well as finals. Maxie Leos placed 3rd & will be advancing to regionals. Sophia Talavera placed 4th. Dominick Fernandez placed 5th and is the second alternate for regionals.

Glasses: How to Enjoy a Total Eclipse
This is a historic event for the area; the last time this region witnessed a total solar eclipse was in 1397, long before Texas or America even existed.
