The more I ponder the elections, the more I see the narrative hostage-taking - how a story is spun to hide the truth - of black & coloured people in the WC.
We are not free. We are hostages to a narrative about us, told by our hostage takers.
Time to end this hostage situation.

While the white election narrative will focus on crime & audits, the truth about structural inequalities that remain entrenched in spatial, economic, labour, housing, law, education etc will be ignored.
Despite thousands of LEAP officers, are people are murdered by the hundreds.

I really think no labour market intervention can have any meaningful impact while this structural constraint exists

Apartheid urban planning did the hard yards of building highly unequal cities in South Africa. Post-apartheid South Africa has not invested sufficiently in a better system of public transport to make mobility affordable & a time-saver for people living away from employment nodes.
