We've got two of these student placements remaining at Gla particle physics, which can now operate remotely if needed. Contact me if interested in Rivet or Contur studies, or PDF machinery

So important that labs, universities, and other scientific workplaces have an open and diverse culture. Happy #LGBTSTEMDay everyone! 🏳️‍🌈😊

congratulations Dr Spiteri who passed his PhD viva today with a thesis on Higgs measurements at the ATLAS Experiment! As it was all remote, here's a picture from last year of him in a live link with other Gla particle physics students at #CERN for IOPScotland's Festival of Physics!

A team of 400 Collider Detector Fermilab (CDF) scientists, including many from the UK, have made the most precise measurement of an elementary particle. And it does not match predictions under the guiding theory of physics. 👀 Learn more 👉 ukri.org/news/particle-…

This measurement is quite breathtaking: 20 years of work from first data to final result. 20 years of really careful, painstaking, difficult work to get the most precise measurement ever of the W boson mass.

Aidan Robson (@aidanrobson) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Anton Muscatelli indeed it's very exciting, and Gla particle physics UofG PhysAstro has been part of the CDF experiment for more than 20 years. Checking this aspect of the standard model's internal consistency has only been possible after the Higgs boson discovery!

New paper on arXiv! arxiv.org/abs/2209.00025 Proud of this: we extend a Les Houches 2019 project and design a new graph alg for identifying the best-expected allowed combination of BSM signal regions to use in a recast. Moar power, excellent complexity scaling, public code 👍
