The amount of teams/coaches still making college athletes wake up at 6 am (or earlier) to train, lift, & practice is 🤯🤯🤯. The data are incredibly clear here. Bad idea.

Very worthy winners for both World Junior events - Amina Orfi winning a record breaking 4th girl's title, and Mohamed Zakaria winning the boy's title for the 2nd year in a row without dropping a game. Both players incredible athletes with tremendous careers ahead of them.

Amazing achievement for 12yr old Chinese girl Yu Zidi competing at the world swimming championships. Surprising that this story hasn't been more widespread, incredible for a child to be able to challenge at an elite level in such a physically strenuous sport.

"All other aspects of two athletes’ performance being equal, the stronger of the two is the better athlete. And the stronger athlete is less likely to get injured. The problem with leaving the ground for a jump shot is that you don’t know what you’re going to land on, and the

So true - the confidence that comes from knowing you can still perform at a good level even when not feeling your best, is an incredibly powerful tool for an athlete's psyche. Another good reason to keep a training diary, and to review it regularly as a reminder.

That's not just the biggest upset I've ever seen on the PSA Squash Tour, but up there with some of the biggest upsets I've ever seen in sport in general. Incredible result.

Incredible skill and athleticism on display from Jonah Bryant and Abdulla Al-Tamimi in their Qatar Classic QF, such a tragedy to end the way that it did - the movement/reaction has all the hallmarks of an achilles tear. Sending very best wishes to Abdulla for a speedy recovery 🙏

Achilles injuries are unfortunately very common in racket sports such as squash, due to the nature of the movements and rapid changes of direction. Strengthening and mobilising calves/ankles can help with prevention, but impossible to eliminate completely. pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC53…

The best in the world share a secret: They don’t obsess over winning. They focus on what’s right in front of them. When your mind drifts to the score, the gold medal, or the “what if”… You lose touch with the only thing you can actually control: right now. Trust Nick Saban:

Great experience last weekend working on the SquashSkills training camp with Joel Makin at the fantastic Edgbaston Priory club. Really good squad of players in, some excellent training time had by all.

The goals of all effective training programs: 1. Do no harm. 2. Reduce the risk of injury. 3. Optimize performance. Please note the omission of “make up dumb stuff to post on social media” from these top three priorities.
