'If everybody is being burntout from bedside nursing and needing to go elsewhere then who is going to look after those patients? And if it's constantly a revolving door then we're really not fixing any of the problems that we have.'

'The minister knows it's an issue. The question is what is her government going to do, if anything, to turn it around? Turning it around includes infrastructure and making this province a magnet for health-care workers.'

It’s 2024 and health care is still in crisis. We need to deliver funding for nurse retention initiatives. Our health care system hinges on the well-being of our nurses + HCWs, who are still doing too much with too little. See what can be done: staffupsavelives.ca

Alberta's nurses are already overworked and feeling unappreciated, and if they hear that the government's just going to run roughshod over their collective agreement rights, it's going to make it hard to retain and very difficult to recruit.

'...this specific transition is not well planned, and that casts doubt to me across the whole system. Health-care systems are incredibly complex. And the idea that we can just cut and slice and move people around and it's effortless is misguided at best.'
