Congrats to all those who achieved bathing status. Just the start of the uphill battle we have in front of us to get rivers back to how nature intended. We have to take it as a positive step, but I'm under no illusions. There is a lot more to do.

With the announcement today that Wetherby has been granted bathing water status. Below is what we had 2 years ago, and currently, what we have now underwater. The difference is staggering at Wetherby and absolutely disgusting. We have lost so much.

More sewage litter than fish. A once productive area now virtually lifeless apart from the great sanitary migration. It's not right.

Not to be missed.

And sewage entered rivers under a labour government. Sewage has always entered rivers.

To think last May I used to film these beautiful fish. On Sunday, when I film (which I'm dreading), I will be lucky to see one. But I will get sewage litter on film.

00:10 filmed 2018, from then on this is 2024 in the same 10m stretch. Even minnows have to endure the demise of our rivers, despite that fact they can tolerate more than most species of fish these little warriors deserve so much better. Rivers deserve better.

Despite years of dedicated, unpaid work and deep expertise on the sewage crisis, it's disheartening to be excluded from the festival's panels. This reflects classism and favoritism within the movement sidelining those from working-class, northern backgrounds. #EndSewagePollution

Following on from the video just posted, providing the river has safe levels, I will attempt to replicate the exact route from filming this section in 2019 mainly to show it is the same area. Once filmed, that will be my last time in there.
