Enjoys a microscale approach so much, honoured to have won the 2021 RSC Education Prize. Beautiful chemistry with an aim to provide evidence in understanding.

That molten NaCl conducts electricity, lighting a lamp, is quoted in textbooks but never shown. Pleased to say an innovative microscale method paves the way

Here is a new way of melting sodium chloride (804C) crystals from CLEAPSS 🏁 without melting the retort boss & clamp. Not much is seen until salt solidifies.

Not another survey. But this is global & about practical chemistry in schools. More about green chemistry here.

The RSC survey, recommends the microscale approach! rsc.org/policy-evidenc… . Treat is seriously and it will lead you to a better understanding of chemistry. It is why the book was written. EiC #ASEChat . Ideas also in Science in School and on CLEAPSS 🏁 and SSERC Chemistry
The 12th Green chemistry principle has been done by CLEAPSS 🏁 for 60 years. The original ChemEd Xchange journal used boiling 6M NaOH, but reduced later. But the 6M value remains in many accounts. This plating was done with Zn in hot 0.4M NaOH. EiC RSC Ed Tech Group Science in School #ASEChat
