Was aboard CalMac Ferries Hebrides this morning when the Stornoway Coastguard helicopter came by for an exercise. It’s great seeing these guys in action and knowing that they are never too far away if you need them.

10 years ago today I travelled down to London and purchased the first 10m rib for Uist Sea Tours. Needless to say that I’ve had better ideas than driving this load through London at 1600 on a week day, I think I taught a few people a thing or two about island drivers that day.

Selfie competition 📸

Were you on the boat this year & taking selfies going through the sea arch or beside the sea stacs? Now’s your time to share them. Here’s my 2 entries, the group selfie was the first selfie of the year, both going through the natural sea arch at Mingulay.

The Sound of Harris is actually quite a nice crossing when there’s no wind or walls of sea hitting the boat. It’s a nice red sky today and no need to panic as they are not ufos in the sky out to the west, just the lights inside the ferry reflecting on the window.

This pair are part of the west coast community pod and are the only two to have been spotted in recent years which sadly means that it looks like this pod will go extinct, making each sighting very special.

My brother Ruaridh phoned me today to say he had seen the orcas while out fishing. How lucky did he get?!
