Today, PS Ngabo Brave Olivier, DMS officially opened the 2025 Umurage Books and Art Festival, themed “Cultural Renaissance: The Power of Arts, Heritage, and Storytelling in the Creative Industry.” The festival is a joint effort between MoYA, ARISE EDUCATION, and Aegis Trust. #UmurageFestival

PS Ngabo Brave Olivier, DMS emphasized that books remain the cornerstone of cultural expression: "They record our past, illuminate our present, and spark visions for the future. Publishing, in turn, ensures these voices travel across communities, across borders, and across time."

Day 1 of the #UmurageFestival kicked off with powerful panels, fireside chats & a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial. Under the theme “Cultural Renaissance: The Power of Art, Heritage & Storytelling”, we celebrate creativity, memory & resilience. 🎨📚✊ #StorytellingMatters

Day 2 of #UmurageFestival spotlighted multilingualism in Rwandan literature. “Write from the philosophy of your mother tongue.” “Translation is transformation — identity, memory, meaning.” Also explored: pain & healing, digital access, and Rwanda’s reading culture.
