Here's a recap of the 2022 iGEM team's award-winning project! They designed ARROWE, a rapid whole-cell biosensor, using the bacterium ADP1 to detect White Nose Fungal Disease. WNS can have devastating effects on bat populations and was recently detected in the Texas Hill Country.

Today we'll be taking a look at the 2021 iGEM team's OCTOPUS project! They engineered the P1 bacteriophage to target oil spills and plastic pollution off the Gulf Coast after a 2020 oil spill near New Orleans.

Did you know that around 780,000 deaths per year are reported due to unclean and unsafe drinking water? The 2020 iGEM team targeted this issue using the T7 bacteriophage to sense bacterial contamination in water. Take a look at their project, which was completed despite COVID-19!

Today we'll be looking at the 2019 iGEM team's award-winning project, the Burden-o-Meter! Their work modeled the limits of metabolic burden in genetic devices to help researchers choose evolutionarily stable genetic constructs. They won several awards, including Best Measurement!
