It is no surprise to me that UTSW won the academic debate at #TLM2024 🥇 Lots of practice and late nights for these two really paid off! Winners of the Liver Cup 🏆 Congratulations! Mohammad Amin Fallahzadeh Ashwini Arvind (she/her) Amit G Singal

So fortunate to have Lisa VanWagner as a mentor and educator for so many of our fellows and residents!

🚨Exciting News! We're incredibly proud of our PSTP fellow, Simeng Wang, MD, PhD! Her innovative work on "Liver Single-Cell RNA Transcriptome Evolution in Diet-Induced MASH/Fibrosis" is a groundbreaking contribution to liver disease research🧬👏 #LiverResearch #AASLD2024 #PSTP

So excited for this new group of 🌟fellows🌟to be joining our family here at UTSW Gastroenterology Fellowship 😍 welcome to the team!

Now that's an impressive class of incoming fellows! 🤩 The #AGAGastroSquad is sending a warm welcome to UTSW Gastroenterology Fellowship's newest GI fellows! 🎉

Endless thanks to Alexander Podboy, MD, DABOM, Andrew Wang, MD, Brian Uthlaut, Vanessa Shami, and friends at UVA IM Residency (UVAIMR) Also, Luka Doncic I’m coming home!

Celebrating the end of a productive year with the @Cotter_Research group holiday dinner! Feeling truly blessed to be part of this amazing team and to work under the exceptional mentorship of Dr. Thomas Cotter. Thomas G. Cotter, MD MS Ahmad Anouti, MD

Clip this: In today’s UTSW Gastroenterology Fellowship fellow’s conference, we went to Clip Class to learn about technique, indication and get hands on experience with many different types of clips led by the pros Ariel Aday, Tom Tielleman, MD and Tarek Sawas, MD, MPH.

Loved getting a chance to teach our fellows the ins and outs of different clips this morning during their simulation session. Clips sound super simple but every clip has its own unique features to be aware of. Big big thanks to Boston Scientific Endoscopy, MTE, STERIS Endoscopy,

Thrilled to welcome Tyler Berzin MD, FASGE to the 2025 UT Southwestern What’s New in GI conference Just getting started teaching us to “navigate the jagged edge” of AI in GI

Had a great time at UTSW Gastroenterology Fellowship’s What’s New In GI 2025. So great to catch up with Tyler Berzin MD, FASGE and honored to have him visit us as our keynote speaker! Big big kudos to course directors #NehaPatel, David Fudman, MD, Tarek Sawas, MD, MPH, & Katie Truitt for organizing a great course!! 👏🏼 👏🏼 👏🏼

Fellow teaching: Here's a nice technique I picked up a few years ago from Klaus Mönkemüller, MD, PhD for tattooing the GI tract. Create a saline bleb, then switch to tattoo. Ensures tattoo stays in the submucosa & doesn't go to peritoneum. Especially useful in a moving target as shown below

Congratulations are in store for UTSW Gastroenterology Fellowship alum Phillip Gu 🏆 winning the ACG Junior Faculty Development Award! Future is bright 🤩

Gen GI Fellow Teaching: Do you know the different ways to know how many bands are left on the Boston Scientific Endoscopy banding kit? Fellows are often taught the second to last band is white, but did you know that if you lose track that you can count the knots on the bander at any time?

This week we had a phenomenal sim session on all things dilation with Drs. Tom Tielleman, MD & Ben Elsbernd, MD. A whirlwind session covering Savary, Balloons, Pneumatic, and Stents w/ fantastic hands on! We also got to break in our fantastic new Fujifilm endoscopes in the sim lab!🎉

It’s been a great experience developing the UTSW Gastroenterology Fellowship fellowship sim curriculum. Always a joy teaching techniques in a safe & low stress environment. Big big thanks to UT Southwestern Medical Center sim center for their collaboration as well as Fujifilm for upgrading us with brand new scopes!!

Tom Tielleman, MD UTSW Gastroenterology Fellowship UT Southwestern Medical Center Fujifilm We're thrilled to support such impactful hands-on training. It’s an honor to be part of advancing GI education and providing tools that help shape the next generation of specialists. 👏
